Contract Legal Transcriber – Court Proceedings

Legacy Transcription Services produces client-ready transcripts for court proceedings.  We are seeking experienced contract transcribers to join our vetted roster.

Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen and native English speaker
- Verifiable work experience in legal transcription or completion of a recognized training program.
- Strong command of legal terminology, formatting, and court transcript standards
- Reliable high-speed internet, professional-grade audio equipment, and a secure workspace
- Ability to meet deadlines and maintain strict confidentiality
- Self-editing discipline required: work must be submitted in polished, near-final condition.  Our quality review process is a fine-tuning step, not a reconstruction service.

Credentials & Verification
Completion of a recognized legal transcription training program or certification is accepted in lieu of work experience.  All credentials are subject to verification, and supporting documentation must be provided upon request.

We start at $1.50 per page.  Rate increases are available based on volume and accuracy performance, and can reach $2.00+ per page.
Payment is issued on a net 45 basis from the date of full case submission to the client, not from the date the transcriber completes their portion.  Depending on transcript length and case complexity, total time from assignment to payment could exceed 90 days.  This is standard for large-scale legal transcription work.  Applicants should be financially prepared for extended payment cycles before accepting assignments.  Transcribers working multiple cases simultaneously will have staggered payment cycles, which over time creates a more consistent income flow.

What Will Not Be Considered

- Applicants without verifiable U.S.-based legal transcription experience or recognized credentials.
- General transcription backgrounds without legal specialization.
- Applicants whose experience is limited to crowd-sourced platforms (Rev, Scribie, etc.)

Qualified applicants will be contacted for an unpaid skills assessment.  Candidates who pass will be invited to an on-camera interview prior to onboarding.  Only candidates who meet our minimum requirements will advance to this stage.
