Digital Legal Scopist

As we continue to grow, we are seeking highly skilled and experienced Digital Legal Scopists (Independent Contractors) to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate for the Digital Legal Scopist role should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in verbatim legal transcription, a keen attention to detail, and proficiency in legal terminology. The primary responsibility will be producing accurate and comprehensive transcripts of court proceedings through meticulous review and editing.

Responsibilities:

• Edit and proofread transcripts to ensure accuracy, clarity, and completeness in transcripts.
• Ensure precision in legal terminology, grammar, and punctuation.
• Research and verify legal terminology, phrases, and procedures as required.
• Meet strict deadlines while managing transcription workload effectively.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with courtroom transcripts.
• Proven experience in legal transcription or related field.
• Proficient in using transcription software and equipment.
• In-depth knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
• Excellent typing skills and attention to detail.
• Exceptional listening skills, including the ability to differentiate between multiple speakers and understand accents.
• Excellent command of English grammar and punctuation.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• High level of integrity and professionalism.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification or training in legal transcription or court reporting.
• Experience working with different types of legal proceedings.
• Familiarity with various legal document formats.
• Experience with AutoScript.

Minimum System Requirements:

• Personal licensed copy of MS Office – One Time Purchase or O365 subscription.
• Processor: I5 or better processor/AMD Ryzen 5 or above.
• Hard Disk: 250 GB or larger hard drive.
• 8GB minimum RAM, 16 GB recommended.
• OS: Windows 10 version 22H2 or Windows 11.
• Sound Card with Speakers (or Stereo Headphones).
• Standard 1920x1080 or higher monitor resolution.
• 25Mbps download; 3 Mbps upload or greater.
• Macintosh computer is not supported.
