DIGITAL REPORTING REALTIME FUNDAMENTALS

Take your digital reporting career to the next level by building a strong foundation in scoping, the essential foundation for providing realtime text streaming, immediate rough transcripts, and accurate transcripts. This course is designed for digital reporters who want to offer additional high-value services to their clients and increase their earning potential.

Before you can deliver realtime and immediate roughs, you must first master scoping —the ability to accurately proof transcripts against the audio. To scope effectively, a solid understanding of English, grammar, punctuation, and legal transcript formatting is essential.

By mastering all the skills taught in this course, you will improve the accuracy of your realtime feed, ensuring clean, high-quality text output that meets industry standards. Through a structured curriculum, you’ll gain the ability to:

  • Scoping & proofing certified transcripts – Edit and proofread transcripts to industry standards.
  • Immediate rough transcript production – Generate high-quality rough drafts efficiently.
  • Realtime text streaming – Deliver live, accurate text confidently during proceedings.

This comprehensive training integrates three essential courses:

  • Transcription, English, Grammar, & Punctuation – Expand your knowledge with both foundational and advanced concepts to confidently navigate the complexities of legal transcripts.
  • Deposition Transcript Fundamentals – Learn important transcript formatting rules and industry standards.
  • ASR Mastery: Scoping & Proofing – Learn best practices for scoping ASR-produced drafts to catch errors and produce accurate transcripts.

This course does not provide training for software or equipment, ensuring a streamlined focus on scoping techniques and productivity enhancement.
