WHAT IS A DIGITAL REPORTER?
A digital reporter is a trained professional who attends depositions, court hearings, and other legal proceedings to capture the verbatim record using high-quality digital audio equipment. They will need to feel comfortable speaking directly with clients and have the ability to obtain a notary public commission. The work environment for this position may include remote proceedings and/or in-person proceedings.
In the digital reporting BlueLedge courses, students learn how to work with digital reporting software and equipment, legal procedure and terminology, professional/ethical conduct, and the process of covering a proceeding, from beginning to end. Additionally, students can become trained in legal transcription as well so that they can both capture the proceeding and produce the final transcript.

WHAT IS A LEGAL TRANSCRIPTIONIST?
A legal transcriptionist is responsible for creating an accurate transcript of what was said on the record during a legal proceeding using Microsoft Word or other industry specific software. They will need to be able to sit and concentrate for long periods of time and be detail oriented in order to produce error-free transcripts.
In the legal transcription BlueLedge courses, students learn how to work with transcription software and equipment, legal procedure and terminology, and to correctly format legal transcripts, while using proper English, grammar, and punctuation. Additionally, students can become trained in digital reporting as well so that they can both capture the proceeding and produce the final transcript.
